Soft Pretzels

Soft Pretzels

Soft Pretzels are warm, chewy, and perfect for snacking or serving with mustard for dipping.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 150ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt for sprinkling

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  3. Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, then let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Divide dough into 8 pieces and shape into pretzels.
  6. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add baking soda, and briefly boil each pretzel for 30 seconds.
  7. Place pretzels on the baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool before serving.
