Crispy Baked Onion Rings

These crispy baked onion rings are a healthier alternative to fried versions. Coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture, they’re perfect for snacking or as a side dish.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Soak onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Dredge each onion ring in the flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  6. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
