Soft Pretzels are warm, chewy, and perfect for snacking or serving with mustard for dipping.
INGREDIENTS
- 250g all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 150ml warm water
- 2 tbsp baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse salt for sprinkling
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 220°C (425°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, then let rise for 1 hour.
- Divide dough into 8 pieces and shape into pretzels.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil, add baking soda, and briefly boil each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Place pretzels on the baking sheet, brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool before serving.
