These crispy baked onion rings are a healthier alternative to fried versions. Coated in a seasoned breadcrumb mixture, they’re perfect for snacking or as a side dish.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 large onions, sliced into rings
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Soak onion rings in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
- Dredge each onion ring in the flour mixture, then dip in buttermilk, and coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
